Modifying functions.php of wordpress file

I'm trying to modify the functions.php file of a wordpress theme that
I have.  The theme I have has two sidebars.

The original code for my functions.php is as follows:

if ( function_exists('register_sidebar') )

I have changed it to the code shown below.  If works fine for the
first sidebar.  However, I don't know how or where to change the below
code so that it works with the second sidebar that I believe is called
from the original code above as register_sidebars(2).

Would someone be able to assist me.  Below is the new code I am using.

Thank you

if ( function_exists('register_sidebar') )
        'before_widget' => '<div class="widgy"><li id="%1$s"
class="widget %2$s">',
        'after_widget' => '</li></div>',
        'before_title' => '<h2 class="widgettitle">',
        'after_title' => '</h2>',

Then you should address your questions to the developer of
the theme.  At the very least, you should provide a way for
people who want to help you to see the entire code base for
your theme.  With the limited information you provided, it
is completely impossible to suggest anything useful.

For example, here:

Quoted text here. Click to load it

you mention two different functions, register_sidebar() and
register_sidebars().  Is this intentional or is it your typo?
Note that register_sidebars() appears to take an integer

Here, however:

Quoted text here. Click to load it

you are calling register_sidebar() with an array argument.
Without seeing the complete code base, it's not even possible
to figure out if both register_sidebar() and register_sidebars()
should exist...
