Maybe he could use an XMLHttpRequest to deliver the data to the server
and then process the javascript redirect when he got a response back
indicating that the server had recorded the data.

But I'm so unclear as to what he wants to do that I'm not sure if that
is a solution or not.

That's possible.

Of course, no one has pointed out to him that if the user has javascript
disabled, none of this will work.

Better would be your suggestion to do all the processing server-side.
