http_post_fields() problem

I've assembled a body of data that I wish to POST to a script that is
working properly from a form submission, and it appears (?) that
http_post_fields() is what is needed, but when using it, I get the error
with PHP 5.2.8 "Fatal error:  Call to undefined function http_post_fields()
... on line 75" even though says it exists.

I'm invoking it as follows:

$tmp = http_post_fields('updated.php?table=contractors',
array('full_name'=>$full_name, 'expires'=>$expires, 'ratings'=>$ratings,
'region'=>$region, 'CPs'=>$cps));

Is some sort of include() necessary to use the http_post_fields() function,
please or is there some other problem that I'm unaware of with the syntax?

It doesn't say it exists on your computer - this is a non-standard
PECL extension which you apparently do not have installed. Check
what's in your extensions dir and what extensions are being loaded
using php.ini at run time by viewing the output of phpinfo();

(note you can also POST using libcurl which is a more common
