Just displaying the template won't do because the corresponding php sets
up many variables (based on session values) before invoking the tpl. How
can I run the new php from the current php? If it makes any difference,
I am running php 4.3., smarty, db2, and apache on linux,

You can simply use php "include" to include the other script. Since
variables from the first script carry over, there may be some variable
collisions, function duplications that you have to take care of.
