8.7: How do I clear the screen?

    If you only have do so infrequently, use "system":

    If you have to do this a lot, save the clear string so you can print it
    100 times without calling a program 100 times:

            $clear_string = `clear`;
            print $clear_string;

    If you're planning on doing other screen manipulations, like cursor
    positions, etc, you might wish to use Term::Cap module:

            use Term::Cap;
            $terminal = Term::Cap->Tgetent( {OSPEED => 9600} );
            $clear_string = $terminal->Tputs('cl');

The perlfaq-workers, a group of volunteers, maintain the perlfaq. They
are not necessarily experts in every domain where Perl might show up,
so please include as much information as possible and relevant in any
corrections. The perlfaq-workers also don't have access to every
operating system or platform, so please include relevant details for
corrections to examples that do not work on particular platforms.
Working code is greatly appreciated.
