- Best modules for XML/SOAP web services

I'm about to put together a web service based on a database I've been developing
but it's a long time since I looked at the CPAN environment for this sort of
thing. So, what are currently the best of breed modules for XML parsing and the
creation of SOAP web services. Or, if SOAP is no longer the standard what to use

Your criteria for choice of XML module will differ.
SOAP::Lite is quirky, somewhat dated and the documentation has been
half-incomplete for most of a decade, but it's still the best module for
SOAP that I know of.
If your clients and servers are both Perl then SOAP::Lite is fabulously
easy and you don't need to work with XML directly. If you need to
interoperate with Java or .Net - be prepared to sweat a bit.
Pod::WSDL can be very useful, but I had to manually clean up the WSDL it
