Windows XP x64 and Tungsten T

I got a new computer running Windows XP x64 and I cannot get it to work
with my Tungsten T.  When I try to sync, the USB connection sound is
strange.  I get a triple bonging sound, sort of like just the first tone
from the USB connection sound.  I tried setting the compatibility mode
for the hotsync software to XP but that didn't seem to do the job.  I
realize that x64 is not supported by Palm, but does anybody have any
ideas on what can be done to solve this?

The solution is to use VMWare to run the 32-bit version Windows XP and
run the Palm Desktop and Hotsync client under that.
