A couple of years ago I came across a case/cover for PDAs that was just a sheet
of metal to cover the front of the unit with a double hinge at the top and a
small strip of metal that you stick to the back of the PDA. It added very little
bulk to the PDA and I'd really like to get one for a palm lifedrive.
The covers came in metal, wood, and leather I think.
Are these still around? I have not been able to find any with google.

My boss has something similar for his Toshiba Pocket PC. It is rather
neat. But I'm not sure where he got it. I wanted something similar for
my Dell Axim. But while I was looking for that, I found something
similar from Rhinoskin. It's aluminum. The PDA slips into the main
part. And a hinged plate covers the front. So all but the top of my
PDA is protected by aluminum. It is only slightly bulkier than the
