Should I expect different overclocking abilities going from Win2K pro to Win

Not if you have a stable overclock.  Windows 2000 and XP will run cooler
while idle than will Windows versions not based on NT.  Memory problems will
likely be less of a factor if you use DOS 6~ since there will be fewer
memory accesses over a smaller address range.  A fifth element might be the
shorter boot time of smaller operating systems might let you get further
before crashing.

Hardware is hardware and if it's stable it'll run either. If it's not then
it's not and software won't 'fix' it.
