I have a question about computer beeps. I have just bought some
computerparts and built a P4 2 GHz.
P4 2 GHz
512 mb ddr PC2100
ATI rage dvd-II graphic (An old card since the newer one wasn't correct for
When I had put everything in place and startet the computer I got a lot of
beeps that seem to not stop. It did sound like a sirene. I did enter BIOS
and load setup default and restarted the computer. The beep was gone, I
think. I don't remember if I have had the systemspeaker connected.
Anyway I did install Windows ME and at this time I didn't have the
systemspeakers connected. After the installation I did connect the
systemspeaker and started Windows ME. When ME was started, the beep came
back after a couple of minutes, so I did shut down the computer.
Does anyone know what the beep means? It is a lot of long beeps. I don't
dare to wait and see how many beeps, maybe I can damage the computer? Anyway
I did quit the computer the regular way and the beep was there all the time.

It doesn't help looking on the net for beep codes, since it isn't 1-12
beeps. It never stops. I was looing at fan speed in BIOS now and it said 0
rpm. I did disable it and the beep was gone. I checked the BIOS again and
now it was 727 rpm. I don't know if I should disable this or not. I have
read somewhere that with some cpu fans (bigger ones I think) you have to do
this, because BIOS will asume the fan isn't working. Anyway I did enable it
again and this time I got some very random beeps. I checked the BIOS again
and it still says 727 rpm. I finally disabled it. So now it is disabled and
the computer is on, since five minutes and there is still no beeps. Is it
okay like this or is something still wrong?
I think the problem is solved since I have no more beeps. Anyway I have
another question. I have a Geforce 3 titanium 200 2x/4x AGP and wonder if I
can use it with my MB? I don't know so much about graphics cards. The
mainboard supports 4x and 8x AGP.
