Re: any benchmarks on Intel Xeon model 5160 Woodcrest Core 2 Duo 3.0Ghz ?
I have been using AMD CPU as a clear winner for integer/IFs code for at
least 4 years; the top dual core Opteron provided 1.5-1.7 speedup jump
comparatively to 3.8GHz single core Xeons (topest model at those time).
This new Intel/Israel monster crashes Opteron to the ground (even under
ground) the single Duo-2 2.9Ghz runs our code almost as fast as Dual
Opteron 285. The dual Xeon 5160/1333 runs our code as fast as quad
Opteron 280 (Tyan S4882). The SpecInt2000 has happened to be a very
representative benchmark for our code.
So, make your own benchmarking before jumping to any conclusion. I have
expected 20% speed-up but actual benchmarking shows 1.85 gain.
