newbie: WM5/6 and activesynch versions? Keith R 04-02-2007

I need to get a multifunction device (smartphone or blackberry) for work.
Unfortunately, WM5 is not supported in our company (their standard supported
device is the BB), so if I want to get a smartphone I'll buy it myself.
Since it is a big investment, I need to find out whether I'll be able to get
everything to play nice before I buy. At work I currently use a WM2003
device (Ipaq2215) on Activesync 3.7.1 , so I know that WM2003 works with our
IT settings, and that I have 3.7.1 pre-installed (I don't have the option to
upgrade to a newer version of AS, this is a locked PC)

Will WM5 (and if known, WM6) devices work via AS3.7.1? any issues I should
be aware of?

The main thing I'd synch is my Outlook calendar and email.

Thanks!
Keith

WM5 devices will NOT work with AS 3.anything. They require 4.x.

Is it possible to sync to the company Exchange server directly rather
than sync to your desktop? You could try this out with your 2003 device
before investing in a new WM5 one.
