I am a Windows XP Media Center Edition user, version 2002 Service Pack 2.

The message "The application or DLL c:\windows\system32\msftedit.dll is not
a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation disk."
recenlty popped up when I booted up my computer. Assuming that this was just
a corrupt file, I restored my system to a couple of days earlier. One
peculiar symptom was that I couldn't save a Word document. After the restore,
I regained this ability. But this was short-lived. As soon as the automatic
downloads from Microsoft took place, the error message reappeared and I lost
my Word saving ability. Has anybody seen this before? Any suggestions?
