I'm betting that it's not a software problem, but if you haven't cycled
power in a while, it's a good idea. Mine seems to lose track after having
been left on for too many days.....
It's likely a mechanical issue. Mine started doing this at about the
one-year mark. I found that if I gently bent the charge connector upwards
(as you'd be holding the phone), it would charge again. When I charge at
home now, I rest the charger cable (about an inch from the phone) on a book
or something to put slight upwards pressure on it. That usually does the
trick. You shouldn't have to do this, but.....
Finally, have you tried another battery?
