I have an HP Pavillion with Windows XP, Media Center 2005, and have
previously been able to play DVD's, but for the last week, I get a pop-up
saying, "Media Center cannot detect a video DVD in the DVD-Rom drive".   What
happened, and how can I fix it??  Help, please!

Are you able to play DVDs outside of Media Center using a differnet player?
Verify you can play a DVD with Media Player.  If you can't then it is
possible that your DVD drive has failed.

You can also try to insert a DVD into the DVD Drive and then go to My
Computer and then click the DVD Drive, if it opens and you see files/folders
then you know that the Drive is still functioning.  If it says insert disk,
or you don't see any files/folders then your drive is probably dead.

RE: Media Center cannot detect a video DVD

Thanks for your help, Bill.   I went to My Computer and clicked on the CD
drive and there weren't any files.   I finally called HP and they sent me a
new Optical Drive.  It still isn't working like before, though, I still have
to go to the CD drive and right click in order to play the movie.  I'll
continue to play around with it.  I'm starting to wonder if a program called
"InterActual Player" may be the cause of all my problems.  I had to download
it in order to view  "The Notebook" and since then, when I insert a DVD,
nothing happens.  Have you heard of this program?
