I'm looking to purchase maps for a software program I have. I need
the maps in .map file extensions and also .tab files. I'm looking
for street level maps. Are there free maps out there? I've got
quotes for anywhere from $1,600 to $25,000. I'm looking for
something under $100.00. Couldn't I just use the maps in Microsoft
Streets and Trips? Is there a way to export them as .map and .tab
files?

Yes, but it depends on your coordinates. Highly detailed street level,
vector maps are generally expensive.

No. Otherwise it wouldn't be so cheap.

What area of the country are you interested in? Do you need parcel
lines? If you don't you should be able to find what you are looking
for. Check out these guys, they made me a rainfall datum map for around
a hundred dollars...
