I bought this computer used from a local dealer I trust. It worked
fine unitl my younger brother borrowed it for a week for game playing
and it came back to me infested with trojans and what not. Thus, It
comes to the point where I had to fdisk, re-format, and re-install
Heres my current problem. I keep having system crashes due to having
an improper video driver.
I have downloaded the most recent set of drivers from compaq's/hp's
website using the service tag and model information. Result: System
Worked for 4 days then crashes.
I downloaded third party drivers. Result: Works for few minutes then
I would like to try an earlier version of the driver and catalyst
software, but Im not sure where to find them.
If anyone could shed some light for me or maybe reveal an obvious
solution that Im not seeing would be greatly appreciated.
Re: Video Driver Problem - Compaq Notebook
Go back to basics; Boot up into safe mode, Safe mode loads the basic
video drivers. Does it work? Find out the most you can about your
video card drivers. I know of problems from windows media o/s. I
have had problems with a bad memory stick, power supply or cmos
seting set to agp or pci set wrong. ALWAYS copy your system32/driver
and inf files to a disk before fdisking.
