Using different types of DDR memories together

Hello All,

I am using a stick of DDR2 5300 (1gb) and a stick of DDR2 4300 (512mb)
on my
laptop and I was wondering if this could lead to any problems?

I've read somewhere that DDR2 modules are backwards compatible but I
wanted to get some opinions on this..

Many Thanks,

Just about all memory modules are backwards compatible (e.g. a fast
module will operate at a slower speed).

You need to find out what your CPU/Chipset wants for "full speed" memory
(it's a function of the memory bus speed, which in turn is likely a
function of the CPU and FSB speed).  Use that memory or faster.  Faster
won't buy you anything, but it should work.  Slower either won't work,
or it will work but by virtue of being slower, system performance will
be degraded.
