I just bought a Sony VAIO SZ-110 and a Microsoft notebook optical
mouse.  I loaded the software that came w/ the mouse (Intellipoint
5.5).  When I plug the mouse into the usb slot, the Found New Hardware
wizard appears but cannot find the driver.  The driver is loading under
the touchpad (which must be an internal PS/2 slot).  I have deleted the
driver for the touchpad, reloaded the driver for the mouse and it still
will not recognize the usb - only the touchpad.  Any suggestions?

Dunno....its pretty strange...I have also a Sony notebook but it has
already preloaded all its drivers...and never had that problem....

You should not need any driver for that mouse.  WinXP has the basic
driver needed for any USB mouse.  I would remove the Intellimouse
software from Add/Remove Programs, reboot, and try again.
