I want to upgrade the Portege 7220cte Notebook computer's hard drive,
and I need to know what is the largest size drive its bios supports.
The Toshiba manuals, support site and forums do not have this
I have upgraded the bios to 1.80-TRAD as instructed in the toshiba
The older, smaller drives are not available for sale anymore (this
laptop originally came with a 12GB drive). The smallest I can find is
a Western Digital 2.5 inch 40GB, 60GB or 80GB such as WD600VE
and I want to know if any of them will be compatible. Some web sites
suggest that they are compatible but they are not Toshiba official
sources so I don't know whether they are correct-e.g.
Thank you for your help.

guarantee ... you don't want an "as-is" drive, that is a euphamism for
"we know it's bad, but we won't tell you that up front").
If it has a 12 gig drive in it, it's likely that you can use any drive
up to 120GB, but I'd think that 20 or 30GB -- both readily available
(used) -- would be certain.
