Re: Toshiba A75-S209 or s229 Comments?
:>Anyone have a Toshiba A75-S209/S229 series laptop? its the a75's with the
trubrite screen. How do you like yours, how satisfied are you with it?
:>Do you think the trubrite screen is worth it? Do you think Sony's xbrite is
better or equal?
There's a good chance it is the same exact LCD panel manufactured by the
Originally Sharp was the only one making LCD panels using "brite" technolgy
but now more companies have joined in. So it is possible that 2 different
A75's could have "trubrite" LCD panels from 2 different manufacturers.
Also, any given A75 with "trubrite" could have the same LCD panel as any
given Sony model with "xbrite" or any other laptop from any other
manufacturer who sells "brite" equipped laptops.
Also, very few, if any, laptop manufacturers "single source" LCD panels for
a given model unless there is something very proprietary about it. This is
why sometimes identical models of laptops will have slightly different
appearing displays due to different manufactuers philosophy on "color
:>All opinions welcome.
I have a Toshiba 5205 with the 15" UXGA (1600x1200) "brite" display and it's
worlds above the standard 5205 standard UXGA display. Toshiba didn't call
it "trubrite" at that time but it's the same technology. They called it
something like "CSV" or "CASV". The 5205 was the only model to use that
display and it was manufactured by Sharp.
One other issue you should keep in mind is that the A75 is a "Compal Built"
for Toshiba model. A Google search on this newsgroup will give you some
Pros and Cons about that issue.
