I recently sold this machine that had xp loaded on it - there were no
disks with the computer when I got it.  The new purchaser decided to
wipe the laptop and reinstall xp but the dvd drive will not autorun the
xp cd.  He tells me he has tried changed the bios to read the dvd drive
first but this had made no difference.  Can anyone else think of a
solution to this problem

Re: Toshiba 3000 dvd drive problem

The solution depends on whether the DVD drive is bad or simply not
booting from the optical drive.  If it's the latter, you can boot from a
floppy disk with opticla drive support and switch to the DVD drive and
start setup manually (I386/winnt.exe)
