I have an aging TP 600E. Recently, it started failing to boot with
161/163/173 errors. Having expereinced this before, I replaced the CMOS
battery with a new one - but that has not fixed the problem. I still get the
161/163 error on boot (though the 173 has gone away), I can then set the
time/date , restart the laptop and all is fine - but the next time I
shutdown & restrat the errors reappear.
Any ideas what's going on?

have 3 volts. Perhaps your battery voltage is marginally low, although
you may think it is new.
