Hi all,

I am having a pressing problem with my docking station's CD/DVD drive.
The drive reads opticals disks randomnly and sometime the read "orange"
light glows even when there is no media in the drive. I have tried
reinstalling the operating system but I cannot put a finger on the
problem. The name of the drive is TEAC-DW-224E. I tried calling toshiba
for support but they absolutely suck and are playing "call transfer"
whenever I give them a call. the sad part is my laptop is still under
warranty but Toshiba is unwilling to recogonize the same warranty on
the dock even though everything was bought together.

Any help will be truly appreciated.

The drive has probably failed or is failing. If you have USB2 or
firewire available on the dock, you can for not much cash assemble a
full-size optical drive in a *powered* USB2 or firewire enclosure. See
www.newegg.com .
