installed Win2K adv. server version...
recently my laptop screen goes into screen-shut off mode and is NOT
responsive to mouse/key strokes.. i could bring back the screen if I
tap the LID-Switch with a pin., I checked PowerManagement and all set
to 'Never'. I played with all sorts of setup and screen goes into
shut-off mode every 30seconds -3 minutes (no fixed). I checked BIOS,
there is NO setup for PowerManagement either.
I am not sure what causes it but it drives me nuts as in the middle of
usage, screen shuts off.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
Re: SONY VAIO Screen/Power Management Shut off problem
I am sitting in front of a GRV-670 that is the same base unit, and for
the life of me I can't figure out what "lid-switch" you are tapping with
a pin? Nevertheless, I am suspecting that its a backlight or inverter
problem and most likely the inverter with a component that is failing
under load. You can acquire an inverter/backlight from
I have purchased from them and they are reliable.
