I am in the process of deciding which Sony VAIO laptop to buy and
needed some help from first hand users.
- First of all, does anyone know a good site that has an archive of
VAIO computers? I am hard-pressed to find a decent vaio dedicated
Now for the technical stuff..
- what do you guys think about the TV Tuner and the GigaPocket? Is it
worth it or is TiVo just a lot better? FYI, I already have a 27inch
screen TV in my room..
- I have come to realize that most of the software provided w/sony is
garbage.. I've owned two wonderful sony's but never cared for its
softwares.. its nifty gadgets are another story (jog-dial,
intelli-mouse.. and this was all four years ago!).
- I am liking the the motion-eye feature in some of new sony's, but
again, if anyone's had it.. is it worth it?
- I have heard a lot about the bright screen and its the only reason I
was willing to go for a heavier (almost desktop replacement) type of
laptops.. again, is it really worth it or better to go for a ligher
more portable version?
I understand that I have asked questions like "is it worth it?" Just
trying to get some opinions out there..

I never bothered to look for those things when I bought my Sony, I just
browsed the stores selling Sony notebooks and studied their units
carefully , compared with competitors such as Dell, Toshiba, and HP.
I have an HDTV tuner and used with a notebook having a 17 inch screen
with 1920 x1200 resolution...IMO it was so impressive which I cannot
compare with the normal TV screen regardless of size....although it
might be my personal view and not shared by others.

I don't think so basing on my current experience..
The Sony audio video software installed in my notebook were so good.
In fact I like it better than the Windows Media Player,,,and inter
Win DVD. .that I use it often.

.Selecting desktop replacement system is a personal choice...First
....You have to ask yourself...if You have enough strength and energy
to carry those things around if needed...And do you really love bigger
notebooks which can be heavy and becomes hotter on your lap in
Do you like to be always an AC outlet as such unit have short battery
Well, if based in opinion, what is worth to somebody may not be
important to other people...
