Morning Ladies and Gents!  I have a Sony PCG-NV170 that can come stock
with 2 LCD's: an XGA and an SXGA.  The one I have is an SXGA, and it
has gone bad on me.  My question is, do I HAVE to replace it with an
SXGA?  Or would the XGA work peachy as well?  Is there some other
hardware that expects one or the other?  Or is the other hardware
versitile to handle both?  Maybe a new driver or something?  Maybe
windows detects the difference?  What's the skinny?

Much Thanks,

Re: Sony LCD Replacement Question

What happened when you say its gone bad? Backlights are well known on
this model......... These can be replaced alot cheaper than a screen.

Re: Sony LCD Replacement Question

It is the backlight.  But I was unaware that you could find the
backlight alone?  Where would you find this part - and for how much?
I've found a used LCD for $100 - but I dont know if its XGA or SXGA.
