Some keys not working

It is a Sony Vaio.  It says Model PCG-9J1L on the bottom but when you
go to support, it tells you that this is really a PCGFRV27.  Sheesh, and I
thought Dell had a mess with it's model numbers.

Anyway, the "o" key doesn't work.  Unfortunately neither do several numbers
and most importantly (for the moment) neither does F8.  I can't reload the
OS without F8 (can't agree to the EULA).

Any thoughts??  I can't find any info on how to get a look at the keyboard.
Would it even matter????  If the keys don't work and it is a membrane, is
this a throw away?? (or just good for parts???)

Any experience in this area would be a big help.

Re: Some keys not working

Would imagine it's either a keying membrane, kinda bubbly plastic
sheet with silvered contacts or sometimes the key buttons themselves
are impregnated with a conductive coating that shorts the contacts on
the board, in this case the key's can be easily re-coated.

They are usually re-placeable as a unit which is the better option.

Re: Some keys not working

I have all the screws off the bottom but can separate the bottom to reveal
keys.  Any help??
