I am in a bit of a pinch. I tried installing Linux onto my Dell
Inspiron 6000, and to my horror it wound up clearing the whole hard
drive!!! It has the Dell Restore thing which seems to be intact
because there is a partition for it. Linux won't mount it though, and
I can't do the restore because you have to push a cntrl+f11 when
windows is starting. Lucky for me, windows is history. Yippee. Just
wondering if anybody knows how to fix it. Oh and whoever called me an
idiot on the other forum was wrong because I wasnt serious! Now is the
right time to call me an idiot.

The control F11 thing should be invoked at startup provided that there
is only one partition in addition to dells restore and diagnostics ones.
If Linux created several drives then you'll have to boot the windows
disk and fix it from there.

Re: Royally F**KED Laptop

Actually I think I fixed my own problem. It seems that Dell will send
me the backup CDs they installed all the stuff from. Like a hard copy
of the System Restore. I sent a request for them to send me them, but
I'm not sure if they will because my warranty period is long over. Get
back on what happens
