- resetting up a stripped down Dell X300

rate this thread
pretty computer savvy, but I am stumped with a used Dell X300 laptop I
bought on ebay.
the seller didn't promise anything more than they delivered -- the
laptop with WIndows XP installed -- and they said I might have to
download some drivers from the Dell site but this seems extreme.
Normally the ethernet adapter works to allow me to connect and get
drivers I might need. but this one doesn't.
so, I am wondering if there isn't some mass driver reinstall that I
can get from Dell to get the basic functionality of this unit
(wireless, ethernet, DVD drive) running. with those bits working, I
can get the rest going.

got it sorted finally by (as you suugested) spending the hours
necessary to slowly and carefully download and install all the drivers
until all the ?s disappeared and everything seems to work.
if anyone has a similar problem (I didn't find this process THAT
evident) feel free to contact me.
