Replacing fan

I have a compaq evo n1015v. A few months ago, it began
making a lot of noise and the noise seemed to come from the
fan. Additionally, no air seems to come out, which i know
there did before.

I sent in the laptop, and was told that a new motherboard
was needed and it would cost me about $600-700. I'm
convinced that it is the fan that's the problem, so i was
wondering how hard it is to replace a fan in a laptop -
maybe with one that is constantly cooling.

Re: Replacing fan

Depends on the laptop.  Getting parts is usually a significant issue.
You need an exact replacement of what is almost always a custom part.
Often, a major problem is that dust has clogged the fan and the heat
exchanger (radiator) of the liquid filled "heat pipe".
