I don't really understand this reasoning - the size of the 12.1" screen
is the same as A4 paper sideways and a half page is the same size as a
book page. The font size (at 80 chars per line, 54 lines per page for
me) is the same size as magazine fonts - I'm holding a copy of IEEE
Spectrum up next to it to check right now!
Well, I don't know what american sizes are. If that's the same as shoe
size, then that's Eu size 47 (UK size 12.5) according to google. I am
size 44. My hand span fingertip to spread fingertip is about 9in (about
top to bottom of a 12.1" screen). Side by side and flat my hands only
cover about one half a keyboard width on the laptop, so I don't see any
difficulty in hitting keys.
I can't stand separate numeric keypads - waste of space when the numbers
are up on the top row anyway.
I don't get eyestrain, or backache - but then these things vary ...
And comfortably for me is "compact".
