Could be the actual socket wants a re-solder... these things are only
usually held by their soldered contacts which can easily become loose
with plugging and unplugging.
Also try waggling the lead at the plug end, where it goes into the
Laptop, the connections are easily broken with continuous flexing.
These plugs are usually moulded if this is the problem then simply
snip off and connect a new one ... but you do need to get the
polarity right - that is the positive (+) and negative (-) leads and
would have to be soldered.
