notebook, and I've just noticed a slight (and intermittent) rattling
sound when lifting and moving it. I'm not sure if it's a loose clip or
screw. I even looked at archived posts and came across a few which
mentioned rattling as being normal (!) in certain hard drives because of
a locking mechanism.
Any thoughts? Mine is to have her return it under warranty. TIA.
Lots of laptop hard drives state, right on the unit that a rattling
noise is indeed normal. If your hearing is especially good, you might
notice that while moving a powered down unit.
Otherwise, it's got to be a loose screw or metal bit. As loose metal
is a Bad Thing, I would indeed seek warranty repair.
Quick test: remove hard drive, shake laptop. Does it still rattle?
Don't overdo it. :)
