My Dell Inspiron 6000, about six months old, has recently had some
major problems.  It started when I couldn't shut my laptop down a
couple days ago, the blue screen came on and it would not turn off no
matter what I did.  A friend told me to take the battery out, I did,
it shut off, and then I turned it back on.  It said winlogin.exe
infected unable to repair, but the laptop still worked fine , I just
didnt shut it off.  But it has gotten really slow and and now is
basically frozen, I've tried different things and I can't get
anything to happen, just stuck on the signinscreen or the main
desktop.  Any suggestions? any help is greatly appreciated

Re: Problem w/ Dell Inspiron

Assuming you can get it to boot, have you tried booting into Safe Mode?
What firewall and anti-virus are you using?  Have you been able to run a
virus scan or scan for other malware?

Re: Problem w/ Dell Inspiron

I would try what Kevin said but if that doesnt work try putting in the
windows xp(or whatever os you have) cd and booting it up and repairing
windows. If that doesnt work you may have to full reinstall because it
seems like something messed up important files. Possibly a virus. Let
me know how things go, i have had problems like this too many times in
the past.
