Printer advice

I'm finding that I can buy a new printer for the same or less
than new cartridges for my old printer.
I'm wondering what printer I should get.
I'm after something, not the cheapest, but nothing too special.
I would like the ink to be bought by itself, which I doubt exists,
or where the three color ink comes in separate cartridges, instead
of having all three in one cartridge, so if one runs out, they all go.
Or the best value on cartridges generally.  Cartridge replacements of a
different brand I am suspicious of, because I wonder if the ink is not
quite right and causes problems, which might have been happening with my
Canon BJC4200.

You can now buy a colour laser printer for under 200.......laser printers
are FAR cheaper to run than inkjets...

Re: Printer advice

There have been some exceptional buys on brand new HP 8250 printers.
Circuit City had them for $49, BJ's Wholesale Club had them for $39
(this printer was originally almost $300, and it comes with about $70
worth of ink).  It's a very good printer, and has one of the lowest
costs of operation (according to consumer's reports).  However, you must
use genuine HP cartridges, which you cannot refill.  But the cartridges
are separate (all 6 of them) and mostly cheap ($10-$12; black is more
but is much larger).
