I have a 2100 presario and my partner has broke both the USB ports
(inserting usb sticks in upside down).

I did consider using an old i/o usb card but I have a wireless card in
my i/o slot.

I am in the UK, and cannot find anywhere locally in Sheffield who can
repair these.

Does anyone have a manual, I have tried searching online but cannot
find anything or where to get the parts.

Thanks in advance.

You can search for your exact model number here...

You need to search on your exact model number of 2100 series (mine is
2103US) or it won't give anything because there are too many results.
The documents for my PC are here... &

The service manual says that it covers 2100 series, so that includes you.

You cannot repair the broken USB ports, but you can repair your partner
with a bitch-slap on a cheek, with "Don't force the USB connectors ever

Call your local Hewlett-Packard support office, or start with (I think). It might be that the USB ports are separate
from the mainboard and "inexpensive" to replace. You need to talk to HP
to find out.

In the worst case - if the mainboard must be replaced for major $$ [I
don't have a Pound Sterling symbol, but you can work out the $-Pound
Sterling exchange rate from] - you can purchase a USB
PC-card that has two USB ports. See (US site, for examples,

If you know of a local repair shop who does good work, then you can obtain
a replacement USB socket for your unit.

Check that site, you might be able to find a replacement socket there, and
be able to have your unit repaired.
