Power Management Problem on Acer TravelMate Laptops

There seems to be a significant problem with Acer's TravelMate range of
Centrino laptops. (Probably applies to other ranges too.) They come
with a Power Management Utility (ePM) which is excellent. The problem
is that it will only work for users with Administrative rights. In a
corporate or academic environment, the bulk of the users are
non-administrators. These users cannot adjust the power settings so
cannot get the 5 hours battery life advertised. (Either that or the
laptop keeps going to sleep after 5 minutes when on mains power).

It's not a very clever solution! Does anyone know how to get around it?
(Power users don't work either!) Or can Acer finally get their act
together and allow all users to setup their own power profiles?

Can't be that difficult for a company that wants to be number one in
