Would like to get a port replicator for my MV2. Current flavor is Toshiba
APR 3 part # pa3314u-1prp. Cheapest I can find it is about $129. The toshiba
site says this is a replacement for the PR 2 PA3082U-1prp or 2prp these are
about $12 on ebay. My question is - will a PA3082U work with the MV2. The
toshiba site only calls out the PR3 for the MV2 and specs for the PA3082U do
not mention the MV series since it did not exist when the 3082U was

I don't know how it connects.  Is there a special plug?

I bought a non-Toshiba (Targus) port replicator which connected via a USB
port.  It is simply a USB hub with an ethernet, parallel and serial port
plus 3 USB ports.  It came with a power supply which can power the hub if
needed (only if there is a high-draw USB device connected).   I paid $10
plus shipping on eBay.  The device works great, although I found 1 problem.
The laptop is used either with or without the hub.  I have a parallel
printer connected to the hub plus some USB device; I sometimes use a serial
connection to a GPS.  Things work best if I plug the hub in after I start XP
(after using the machine without the hub) , and unplug the hub before I shut
down (before I use the machine away from the hub).  If I am starting the
machine at the location with the hub, sometimes XP installs a new copy of
the printer, and thinks the printer he used to have (still the default
printer) is offline.  This happens about 25% of the time.  I suspect that
this may be an XP timing problem and would occur regardless of the brand of
