rate this thread
lately that it has been very noisy. It started about 6 months about I
bought it. I am trying to figure out if it is in fact a fan that is
acting up or if it is the hard drive. Any suggestions on what I can do
to determine which piece of hardware is annoying me? Just a side note,
I have the indexing service disabled and it will make the noise while
there is no activity on the system.
One last thing, if it is in fact a fan, how hard would it be to change
it out? I have downloaded the hardware maintenance manual for my
machine in the event I need to open it up.
Thanks in advance.
Re: Noisy Laptop... Please Help
Before you do anything else, power it off and blow air backwards thru
the cooling vents. You'll probably get a cloud of dust and solve the
problem. Those little vents and tiny heat exchangers get blocked very
easily. Use an airgun or canned air to get a good blast of air in
there to blow all the cat hairs and such out of it.
