I have a Sony Vaio Pcg-gr414sp laptop, and the hard drive has died.
Since the laptop is out of warranty, Sony support have not been helpful
at all in terms of where i can find a replacement one.
I'm thinking of buying a 30Gb Fujitsu MH 2300 AT drive 2.5" 9.5mm hard
drive as a replacement. The question i have is, will there be any
compatibility problems, or can you pretty much put any drive in there
as long as it fits? I've heard differing views from different people..
Many thanks in advance
Re: new hd on Sony PCG-GR414SP
Usually there is no problem. You re-use the existing carraige and often
the original connector on older computers. If you purchase a new drive,
be sure that you can return it for refund - some OEM replacements can
only be exchanged for another of the same drive, depending on the
vendor. Newegg has this policy for some drives.
