minimal effort and quickly found the CPU cooler. It must come off to
reach the CPU. It has three screws holding it in place and I cannot get
those loose for anything. Of course with everything in there seeming so
fragile I am actually afraid to go brut strength trying to bust them
free, although I have used a lot of force already and they will not
Can someone provide some tips, suggestions, whatever, to show me how to
loosen those screws (the PDF manual shows they have to be removed)?
Lastly, the screws have some strange way of holding the cooler to the
CPU. While the screws will not bust free, they sort of 'float' in their
place yet the cooler IS firmly attached and in place on the CPU! Don't
understand how IBM's setup actually works here. Do they use a rubber
insert or spring of some sort under the screws.
Thoughts, suggestions, HELP!
Re: need help upgrading CPU
have you turned the screws and if so they just might be retained screws.
Screws that are designed to stay with the cooler. You can undo them as much
as you like but through design they never leave the hole in the cooler.
the cooler just could be stuck with a thermal paste.
