I recently bought an NEC LR500BD laptop here in Japan. It came with an OEM
Windows XP install (Japanese), which, due to my crummy Japanese skills and
the shocking amount of installed programs it came with, I removed and
installed my copy of Windows XP (english).
Now the laptop basically works fine, but I'm missing some drivers. I've
gone to the NEC worldwide site and looked around, and also 121ware.com
(their japanese support site) but Im still missing some controls -
-SD card reader
-and other notebook controls like power levels, standby/sleep, etc...
I sent an email to NEC about 2 weeks ago, but only got a reply that it was
forwarded to the appropriate department. I'm not holding my breath there.
I have a symantec ghost image of the old japanese system as well - is there
any way I could pull just the drivers out of that?
Or is there any other place I could look for drivers (I have tried the
obvious like drivers.com and the like)?
Since this computer was only released in Japan, I realize that there are
probably only Japanese drivers available for this specific model (which is
ok ). But Perhaps there's an American release with similar enough specs
that they might work?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
