turn on, and the sound can be overwhelming. I'm not sure why, but it
particularly goes nuts when I open microsoft word and type manually -
and I'm forced to type because the racket drowns out dragon naturally
speaking ( I have RSI and would prefer to use speech recognition).
And yes, I often clean them to remove dust, etc. So my question is:
what can i do to fix this? Can I replace the fans with something less
noisy and/or constant, etc?
thanks in advance
Re: My Compaq Presario Is Driving Me Nuts
When you say that you dust often, how often do you mean? Usually, in my
experience, when your laptop fans start to sound like an idling jet plane, then
either the copper cooling fins are full of dust, or your fan bearings are going
bad. Depending on the surfaces on which you sit your laptop, you may need to
blast the cooling assembly once a week to once every two weeks.
What are your system specs? For the most part, running an office suite program
shouldn't place that substantial of a load on the processor to cause the fans
to start working overtime.
