I have an Inspiron 8600 with a WUXGA (1920x1200) 15.4" display. I have
a 32 meg nvidia geforce fx go5200 video card.
I don't play any games, and I don't care about gaming performance. But
I frequently attach a second 1920x1200 monitor, and span my desktop
across both monitors.
I feel like screen drawing by applications, just inside of Windows, is
slower than it is on other computers. If I resize windows or select
multiple items in windows explorer, or move windows around on the
desktop, it's not as "snappy" as I'd prefer.
Would more RAM on the video card make any difference to windows
applications that just draw 2d decorations on the desktop? I'd buy a
heftier video card if it'll help, but don't want to spend the money if
it wouldn't make any difference.
