Im after a new laptop, i am debating either a Sony Vaio BX297XP or a
Sony Vaio AR21M. They are roughly the same spec but one has a 2ghz
Intel Centrino (=A3200 cheaper) or a 1.88ghz Intel Core 2 Duo.

What is the differance between the two processors?

There are no Intel Centrino Processors. Centrino is the combination of
Chipset/W-Lan and Processor by Intel.
(Bluetooth ist not required to gain the Centrino logo). The Multicore
Systems are called Centrino Duo.

The BX297XP ist equipped with a Pentium M, the AR21M with a Core 2 Duo. You
take the Core 2 Duo. Especially if you are planning to buy a new one and
switch to Vista sooner or later.
And even at XP sometimes 2 Cores perform better. Core Duo Processors are
1,55times faster than a Pentium M Single core with the same Ghz.
So the 1,8 Ghz Core 2 Duo is faster than a 2 Ghz Pentium M.

And they consume slightly less Battery than the "older" Pentium M.
