A question about laptop memory configuration.  The laptop is an Acer
Extensa 5620 with 2 DDR2 516MB(not sure about the HZ) chips
installed.  Can one replace ONE 516 chip with a 2GB 667MHZ

it depends if the machine will recognize the chip. the max size of the chip
may be 1gb.
this is just a guess.

listing for that, but does have one for the Aspire 5620:

512MB, not 516MB.

You can probably replace one with a 1GB module, less certain about 2gb
modules.  But running a non-matched pair, while it may work, COULD cut
the speed of the memory system nearly in half, by forcing the machine to
cease using "dual channel" memory. wrote:
