Laptop IDE optical drives standard IDE interface but with a different
connector (note that some laptop optical drives are now SATA instead of
IDE).  You can buy adapters on E-Bay for a couple bucks (literally) that
will adapt the laptop IDE thin-line optical drives to a standard desktop
40-pin IDE connector.
