I have the opportunity to purchase of an HP Pavilion dv9644 laptop.  It
is used but in excellent condition.  My main concern is the speed of the
processor.  I intend on using it for the following;

- web surfing with some authoring
- reading and listening to ebooks and other electronic materials
- email, usenet, news feeds
- work using MS Office
- some photo editing
- watching movies
- playing of some games

In addition due to my vision or lack of it, it has to be fast enough to
run accessibility software which includes screen reading and

- OS: Windows Vista Home Premium
- Processor: Intel® Centrino® Duo T5250 (1.5 GHz)
- 2MB L2 Cache, 667 MHz FSB
- Intel PRO/Wireless 4965AGN Network Connection & Bluetooth
- RAM 2048 MB DDR2 667
- 220 GB 7200 RPM SATA Disk Drive
- LightScribe Super Multi 8X DVD±RW with Double Layer Support
- 5 in 1 memory card reader
- skip the other stuff but it does have things like HDMI and S-Video out

Does this machine have enough juice?  And if it does, what might be a
fair price?  I think he's asking a little too much for it at the moment.

A friend of mine have a HP almost identical to the one you mentioned and
I've tested it even with a CAD program and it works fine.
So if you could get it to the right price I personally consider it a good
