I have an HP OmniBook XE3 computer.  Several months ago, the backlight
inverter died and I replaced it.  The macine ran fine for several
months, and then the inverter went out again.  I replaced the inverter
again, it starter up and looked fine, but after about 15 minutes, the
backlight is gone again.  I think the inverter is shot, but it only
lasted a few minutes this time.  I'm gussing there is probably
something wrong with the computer that is blowing the backlight
inverters.  Does anyone have experience with this?

Usually the cause of that problem is the display itself.  Sometimes they
start drawing too much current which causes the inverter board to fail.
A short in the connector (or wiring to the display) can also cause
your problem.
